Welcome to TripTicks

About this Blog
If you’re time poor but curious or after a last minute getaway idea, dip into this blog to see at a glance the top three highlights of a place, such as the best beaches, hikes, bike rides, local delicacies, sunsets or sunrises.
TripTicks travel blog is based on an artistic form from the middle ages called a triptych– which is an arrangement of three pictures together that tell a story. Traditionally used as altarpieces to depict holy stories, I have adapted the triptych form to tell travel stories and used a little play on words, to call them trip ticks. For every place I visit, you’ll find the three things that I think get a big tick, so you can see at a glance what’s on offer. For those that want to dive deeper, you can click on the hyperlinks for travel tales, off-the-radar tips and curious observations as well.
About Me
Hey, I’m Sally Parrott. A long-time writer and wanderer who loves to discover curious corners of the world and unearth quirky characters. I’m known to be a tad impatient and sometimes struggle to wade through lengthy travel blog posts to find the detail I most need. I thought there might be other people out there like me (though my husband doubts it), looking for travel tips at a glance so I decided to start a travel blog that sums up the top three things I love about a place. As I’m a sun and sea worshipper, my focus is often on sunrise, sunsets, beaches and oceans but I also love hiking the hills, enjoying good food and wine, discovering creative architecture, quirky street art, and figuring out what makes each place or town tick.
Take a look at trip_ticks instagram site to see the top picks in pics or go to the destinations tab above to see what’s on offer at each place or region I’ve been. https://www.instagram.com/trip_ticks/
